This unit investigates the subject of coursebooks/material created by the teacher. My opinion is, in line with what was stated in the unit, that coursebooks are useful because, if updated and with a balanced mix of grammar, vocabulary and skills work, offer a valid and tested support for both teacher and students but at the same time are often too generic and their exclusive use can become very boring for the students. Therefore they are not sufficient without the appropriate supplement of more creative material provided by the teacher. This extra material (for example crosswords, wordsearches, flashcards, picture stories or role-play cards) should be always present and graded according to the level of the students.
