This unit's focus is the writing of the lesson plan. Even if not all teachers will approve the lesson plan as a support to the lesson, as they might see it as too teacher-centered and fixed in its forms, if it is well written it can definitely bring some benefits to the lesson itself. First of all a lesson plan serves some important functions: it is an aid to planning, it's a working document every teacher can always refer to during the lesson and represents a record of the activities carried out, the materials used and the topics covered so far. The unit also provides some important information on how the lesson plan should be written and organized and furthermore suggests what elements should never be left out of a good lesson plan: learner objectives and personal aims, language point, teaching aids. anticipated problems, procedure, phase, timing, interaction, class level, number of students, date/time, teacher's and observer's names. This unit represents a useful resource for the teacher because not only it provides essential information on how to write a lesson plan, but also provides some good activity ideas and lesson plan samples.
