In this unit we learnt about what a lesson plan is, when we should use it and how it should be structured. The unit explained about the importance of planning but not over-planning. For example, you should have an idea about what the learning objectives are for the students, what materials and activities you will use and roughly how long each section will take as well as what phase structure you will use but you need to allow a little flexibility in there for discussion and student direction. You should never try to script a lesson as that will dampen the spontaneous learning that a student could enjoy with a more flexible plan.
