These receptive teaching skills play an important role in my educational field and I use reading and listening everyday. When I read a book, I read without stopping or translating unfamiliar words to me. I try to understand the meaning of the story at the end. But I notice that children learn more quickly than adults. My students are young English language learners. They listen attentively when I read a book and ask endless questions which may not always be grammatically correct. Also, they show comprehension by copying gestures and movements. I always pick a book that relates to my lesson to read to my students at the beginning of the lesson. But when students get a chance to read a book to themselves they choose a book they want to but of course, I help find books for their levels.
