This unit reflects the grammar rules of model auxiliary verbs, phrasal verbs and passive voice. To begin, model verbs can express difference degrees of formality depending on who the speaker is addressing. Depending on which verb is used, one question can have many different meanings. The differences among the words: can, could, may, shall, should, will, would, must and several more can change a sentences meaning from obligation, necessity, a polite request, and a possibility. The passive and the active voice focus on different parts of the sentence. The active voice can focus on the agent, and the passive the focus is on the subject of the sentence. For each verb tense, there a passive formation sentence structure that must be followed. Phrasal verbs are commonly used in the English language and are made up of multi-word verbs. There are three types of phrasal verbs and should be taught to students naturally in conversation.
