This unit covers the use of past tenses. Past simple tense is a basic sentence uses to show what we did. Examples: I ate three bananas this morning or I drove to the store to pick up some groceries. Past continuous tense is a sentence uses to show what we are doing or someone/something else is doing in the past. Example: He was sleeping when the fire alarm went off or the power generator was squeaking before it shut down. Past perfect tense is a sentence uses to show what happened prior to an event in the past. Example: They had lost the communication with the ship captain before the ship vanished or Jane hadn't realized that she left her phone in the office. Past perfect continuous tense is a sentence uses to show what was happening during the time of observation without the knowledge of the action being continued or not. Example: The constructions had been roaring loudly during the night or I had not been getting enough sleep due to my insomnia. Overall, thanks to the present tense in the prior unit. I'm able to have a better grasp to prepare for this unit.
