The primary focus of Unit 7: ?Teaching New Language? is finding the balance and approach of teaching grammar, vocabulary and functions. The unit addresses vocabulary first and I found the factors for ?how easy or how difficult vocabulary is? very interesting. This would be more important for languages such as Chinese and English which are entirely different as opposed to similar languages such as English and Spanish. The topic of ?Selecting Vocabulary? or appropriacy was also very helpful in the sense that we should really focus on vocabulary that will fall into the students productive vocabulary instead of following lesson guides and introducing unnecessary words. The ESA examples for each of the unit focus were also gave helpful ideas for the classroom.
