This unit provided me with a very detailed study of modal verbs and highlighted how students' attention must be drawn to certain aspects of them: i.e. how they cannot be used to show tense. Moreover the teaching ideas given proved very useful and have shown me how students can be encouraged to use this aspect of grammar while replicating common everyday situations, e.g. with roleplay. The sections on passive voice and phrasal verbs were also very helpful and again showed me the intricacies of these complex grammar points. I especially liked that each piece of information was illustrated with an example as it made the difficult grammar more understandable.
