The unit describes intonation, stress, linking words and phonemics and articulation. It also shows why they are important. Speach of native speakers is slightly different from written text. They normally use \"soundjoining\" while talking. That is why sometimes it is difficult to understand a native speaker. A beginner might also be surprised whith words that are written equal but sounds different. Teacher should pay enough attention to articulation and shouldn't be shy to demonstrate what his/her mouth is doing. As for me, teaching to read transcriptions is enough big part of the course for beginners. There is a usuful idea for exercises - Elements of pronunciation by Colin Martimer.
