This unit discusses tests and exams that can help the teacher understand how to place and asses the abilities of their students among other things. Placement tests are important for the instructor because the allow the teacher to focus on where to place students to maximize their learning potential. Diagnostic tests further allow the instructor to asses the abilities of the students. These different tests are very useful and I will utilize progress tests the most since my classes are already set. I need to know how my students have gotten better or how they have not to further tweak my classes. The section about the different external tests was also helpful and now I know a little more about some of the English tests my adult learners can take.
