This unit covers teaching the two receptive skills reading and listening. While reading presents fewer problems as it can be read repeatedly listen can be more difficult for students because they have to capture the words, their meaning as well as the context immediately. Both skills are equally important and neither one should be neglected when teaching, although it's normal to put a bigger focus on one skill during a lesson. Pre-teaching vocabulary and choosing a text carefully will help approaching language difficulties. Text should cover students' interests and the tasks should motivate student participation.
