I found it interesting that you would recommend using language below the level of language being taught. I have always found that if you use language equal to, or just above that which you are teaching, it results in better comprehension. I have found that if you teach intermediates like they are pre-ints, you end up with a bunch of pre-ints. Whereas if you use the language that you expect them to use, yes, you have to be very careful to ensure that you are understood, but overall, this results in students who are more capable of understanding the point you are teaching, rather than less capable.
