This unit gives a good understanding of how to logically organize a lesson plan. I have come to believe that a major component of effective teaching is the preparation done prior to class. The preparation not only ensures that the class is a suitable component of the overall goals of the course, it directs the activities within the class period.
By doing a lesson plan, teaching aids can be created and organized. The lesson plan also keeps the teacher on a coherent path. I do not enjoy listening to public speakers who are making it up as they go along because of the lack of consistency or logic. A proper lesson plans also ensures that the important topics are covered.
