This unit covers conditionals and reported speech. There are five main conditionals, which involve two clauses (usually an \"if\" clause and a main clause) with a condition and a consequence, some taking place in the past and some in the future, both hypothetical and not. The conditionals include zero conditional, actions and facts that are irrefutable, such as \"If you touch a hot stove, you will get burned\" and first conditional, a real situation in the future that is possible, probable or even certain, once the condition is satisfied, such as \"If he works hard and saves his money, he will have enough money for college. There are also the third and mixed conditionals. The section on reported and direct speech discusses how when direct speech is changed to reported the pronouns change, as well as verb tenses and sometimes the time expression used, such as today becoming yesterday, etc.
