The goal of unit five is to expand upon the managerial aspects of a teacher's job. Appropriate uses of gestures, eye contact, and vocal cues are discussed. The lesson stresses that a teacher should be discriminating in their use of body language, as not all gestures are universal. Unit five then proceeds to cover the benefits and drawbacks of different student groupings (whole class, individual, pairs, and groups), as well as the four primary ways that a classroom can be arranged (rows, circles and horseshoes, and at separate tables). The lesson closes out by presenting the ideal ways for teachers to write on the board, give instructions, build rapport, and discipline students. I feel that this chapter has given me a concrete image of how a teacher should interact with students during classes. Additionally, the descriptions of student groupings and classroom arrangements have provided me with a firm understanding of the ideal ways to group and structure classes for different activities.
