Do Tefl Teachers Need A Second Language - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT TEFL-TESOL Courses

The simple answer is no, you do not need to have any knowledge or experience of languages other than English to take a TEFL course or to become an EFL teacher. The ability to speak other languages is not required as the vast majority of TEFL classrooms around the world rely on the communicative approach to English teaching that specifies that English is the only language used in the classroom. In multilingual classrooms where the students could have a dozen or more different first languages, being able to communicate in one or two of them would obviously be of no particular advantage. In monolingual classrooms you may also find that students are more inclined to revert to their mother tongue during the lesson if they are aware that the teacher can understand what is being said....  [Read more]

How the structure of a classroom can change how dominate the teacher is to the students. Also not having students answer questions in sequential order, rather mix up who answers next. This means that all students must continue to pay attention. This is something during the language lessons I attended that teachers didn't do and it meant that I and most others would count ahead to know which question we had to answer...  [Read more]

In the first video the teacher introduced the lesson with a rather complicated phrase, instead of elucidating answers from the students in terms of examples. He also noted how easy the topic was, immediately making the students feel pressure to answer correctly, therefore heightening their reluctance to answer questions and participate. The explanations were unclear in the first video, showing the...  [Read more]

For instance, question 8 where 2 answers can be eliminated (1 and 3) since they are actually mentioned in the lesson itself while the two left over answers are not covered in the lesson and therefore require either luck since logic can't be applied to figure out the correct answer. Same for question 10, also subjective, where one has to decide without guidance using...  [Read more]

Answer 3 however can include the 2nd and 3rd syllables however is not actually correct if the 'last syllable' is included in the answer. I had to study the section, and review it multiple times to ensure I was selecting the best answer. This isn't because I don't speak English properly, or that I don't know the information, but it has more to do with not having to explain why I speak or write English this way - I just do it. Interesting lesson...  [Read more]
