TESOL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Roman
Roman is a business communications trainer in Malaysia. Originally from the Philippines, he completed his 120-hour certificate course with ITTT as his first step towards starting a career in English language teaching. In this TEFL review Roman discusses how he found that he learned much more than he expected from the course, including information about classroom management, lesson planning and phonology. Roman also appreciated the great flexibility an online TEFL course provides meaning he was able to study while maintaining an active social life in his spare time.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
There is a difference in the way you would teach, say, an absolute beginner class than a business class, or a young beginner and an adult beginner. Some students are there because is is required by their job (in the case of Business English). Children have shorter attention spans than adults and require different teaching. More drilling exercises for children are needed, but a teacher has to be careful that the students don't get bored. In this case a variety of activities is necessary. Business English students may not be as motivated as some and because of their jobs they may have irregular attendance.
