Being a native english speaker I had never really thought about english grammar, as a native speaker I just knew if something was grammatically incorrect. I have since learnt so much about english grammar that I am shocked at how little I knew. I have gained a lot more confidence in my current role as an education assistant and have been able to incorporate much of what I have learnt in my day to day role.
I decided to do the TEFL course as I want to do some voluntary work with local children. I heard from a friend how some of the students in her school are struggling with english but she works full time and does not have the time to help them. Although I could offer my time for conversational english I wanted to feel that I had some formal training.
I currently work part time with special needs children so for now will continue with that, but moving forward would like to take a position teaching english. I intend to use what I have learnt on the course to teach english in after school classes at a local school.
