I learnt that lessons are not linear. There are multiple stages within a teaching plan that can be alternated to form the best fitting lesson plan for a specific group, or agenda. I found it enlightening and helpful that teaching, or learning, a language is not only about correct grammar and language use, however about comfort and experimentation with a new language. As a teacher, I would need to nurture the comfort of my students with their new language, and facilitate their experimentation within the classroom. I find that more challenging than sharing a grammar lesson, and look forward to learning methods that would be effective with the groups I will work with in the future.
