This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
One of the biggest challenges I have with one of our courses is that the students in the class have various levels in English. This makes it hard for me to choose certain topics and a lot of the time it ends up leaving one or more students completely lost, or, one or more students completely bored. Covering listening and reading are a big part of teaching English and I can appreciate the complexity of coming up with content that will engage all the students when these type situations arise.
In my classes where the students are more or less at the same level, I find that I can make the classes a lot more fun because all the students are on the same page. It makes it easy for me to choose topics and present them with fun ways to learn the two skills. Needless to say, splitting students up depending on their English level is one major factor in making a class successful.
