I think the best method and most practical for teaching intonation and stress and pronunciation is through modeling. I have very young students and feel that they would not be able to handle the written pronunciation cues. Fortunately, they are young enough to mimic sounds without much difficulty. I understand that adult learners may never perfect their pronunciation, but young children can learn to pronounce at a native speaker level. I think this should be pointed out in the lesson material. I will try to implement some of the ideas for my teaching, but mostly feel that the material in this lesson does not apply in my situation or setting.
