In this unit I learned about the differences between receptive and productive skills. The lesson focused on receptive skills reading and listening. The unit discussed what problems can arise when teaching reading and listening and how to correct the issue. The unit suggested pre-teaching vocabulary, carefully selecting tasks, choosing interesting topics, comprehension tasks that promote understanding, and ideas to test comprehension.This lesson has explained the different ways we can evaluate and test our students. We can determine their English level through placement tests. We can determine how they are improving through progress tests. We can have them take diagnostic tests to see what areas they are weak or strong in so we can better plan future lesson plans. We can give external exams as they finish a course to see if they have improved their English level.
