In any language there are four language basic skills, reading and listening which are both receptive skills and speaking and writing which are productive skills. This unit was about the receptive skills. When reading and writing you don't just use your ears and eyes but you also use your mind for without knowing the content of what you are reading or writing the skills are not that useful to you. When teaching receptive skills it is important that the students can understand most of the vocabulary. Therefore it could be useful to pre-teach any difficult/unknown vocabulary words before listening or reading the content. Also to help the students to stay focused on the content given to them, find topics they are interested in therefore they would be more eager to learn and pay attention.
