The visualization of the tree (grammar being the trunk and branches as vocabularies and functions as the leaves that add beauty) was a good way to explain. Even though as a teacher one might have to approach the whole picture like a puzzle with many pieces, I've learned that I have too keep the big picture in mind throughout the whole process. The practical parts that gives me ideas on especially the ESA methodology was very useful.Unit 11, teaching receptive skills, taught the importance of reading and listening and the varying motives and ways we read and listen. Sometimes we read for pleasure and sometimes for purpose, and sometimes a mixture of both.
Unit 11 went on to explain pre-teaching and how to select texts and topics for language students. The best part of unit 11 was the outline of the patchwork lesson, detailing each step as an example to follow.
