This unit covered the topic of coursebooks and learning materials. It discussed in detail the uses, advantages and disadvantages and options of \"authentic\" materials, as well as describing and providing examples of \"created\"materials. Chosen carefully, \"authentic\" materials greatly complement learning objectives â€“ However, if used too much they can also be predictable and boring. On the other hand, created materials, made with care, can be ,fresh, stimulating, complementary and fun â€“ though, also time consuming to design. The teacher should find an appropriate balance between the two, based on the ability of his or her students and their learning objectives. Like the others, I found this unit useful and will keep the hard copy I have printed.
