In the Video Lessons Unit, I observed and critiqued two different presentations of the same lesson point. Though presenting the same information, the two lessons were drastically different in effectiveness and engagement with the students. After watching the two in comparison with one another, it was evident that smiling, pantomiming, clearly enunciating, and even laughing are all integral parts of building rapport with one's students. The ESA framework as it was used in the second lesson also seemed to be much more effective than the presentation style used in the first lesson. Finally, the second lesson demonstrated that rephrasing a sentence/question can be an effective way of overcoming student incomprehension when giving instructions in class.
