There are many different variables to the type of class that a teacher of EFL could encounter. Of course, no matter the type of class, the teacher should always use English and encourage the students to speak in English and not their native language as much as possible. With beginners, it is important to keep the lesson as visual as possible. Individual English lessons are also common and normally less formal than a classroom setting. It is important to be sensitive to teaching children, especially by speaking more clearly and slowly and using more repetition then other age groups. Teaching English to a company for business purposes is common and one must be aware of the individual's and the company's goals in their use of English.
