Although I found portions of this unit challenging, I feel much more confident in my ability to teach modal verbs. We use modal verbs to express obligation, ability, advice, permission, possibility and probability. These verbs include: can, could, might, shall, should, will, would, must, have to, have got to, need to, needn't and ought to. Each of these modal verbs has its own specific uses that are based on degree of certainty, ability, and politeness. I found this unit very helpful as it outlined the correct usage and form of verb types when considering passive voice. In English, the two voices are passive and active. WE have focused on active in past units, so this unit was dedicated to improving knowledge of the passive voice.
