This lesson taught me how students should encounter a blend of reading and listening materials in the classroom. It is important for students to be challenged every once in a while by material that is not solely tailored to the vocabulary covered in that lesson. By allowing student to deduce what a word means from the context of what they understand from a text is important in the learning process. Furthermore, I have learned that it is important to vary material based on class interest. Once a strong rapport has ben established in the classroom, I will be able to adjust my lessons and reading material to fit with the interests of my students.
