I liked being introduced to the phonetic alphabet as it is a relatively new topic for me. I have studied other languages so I vaguely remember some of the points about articulation but it was helpful to review here. The most challenging part is developing awareness of intonation; as native speakers, we rarely think deliberately about how subtle changes in intonation can convey different meanings.I find the teaching ideas usable in many teaching situations. The charts is also an easy way of understanding the different kinds of grammar patterns and can also be used as a worksheet exercise, which I think is a very useful tool in the classroom. I also think that this present tense grammar really helps students to understand the basic sentence structures found in many books and conversations.
