Unit 1 discussed the qualities of what makes a good teacher, for example: involving students equally; ability to motivate learners; cares about his/her students' learning and therefore his/her teaching; etc.
Also disussed were the roles a teacher may have at different times within classes: assessor, model, organiser, manager, observer.
The characteristics of a good learner or student were also discussed: ability to receive correction; desire to experiment;consideration of own learning preferences; willingness to listen; motivation/desire to learn.
Differences between adult, teenage and child learners were given.
Language ability levels including CEF were given.
Motivation for learning English was also discussed.
