This unit discusses the basics of teaching a new language to a classroom of students. One of the building blocks they will need for their language acquisition is vocabulary. With each new vocabulary word learned the students will need to learn word's meaning, usage, spelling. pronunciation, and what grammar structures are used around it. When learning new grammatical structures the students need to know the meaning, the use, the patterns, and how to form it in different situations. This unit describes the different functions that language can have. These include inviting, refusing, agreeing/disagreeing, and suggesting. Students will need to know how to identify and utilize these different language functions.
