This unit taught me more about the various roles teachers can play in their students' learning, and how to choose the most appropriate role for a given learning environment and clientele.
The unit goes on to describe learners, as well as what makes a good learner. It talks about cultural sensitivity, student motivation (or lack thereof), age of the learner, disposition of the learner, and other factors that may influence instruction and learning. It also describes what factors motivate a student to learn English.
The unit wraps up by providing an overview of the different levels of proficiency a student will have, and introduces the Common European Framework to identify the level of language proficiency.
