Unit 9 contrasts the 2 extremes of lesson planning rigidity and ?improvisation?. It suggests the former can be more suited for inexperienced teachers while the latter probably to be left to very experienced teachers. But there are middle way and flexibility should not be lost. The 3 functions of a lesson planning (planning aid, working document and record) are highlighted. The record function was of particular interest to me (advantage if a colleague needs to take over for example). No special format is mandated but what should be included is listed. An example is given together with an empty template, both having all the necessary elements to be included. The importance of self-evaluation is stressed and a template provided to that effect. Tasks/ Procedures material concludes the unit.
