In this unit, I learnt that teachers have to have a mix of relevant course work as well as his or her own creativity to really create a lesson that is of interest to the class. With regards to course work and specific materials used, the teacher will have to create different activities based on the topics or themes that students are interested in. The difficult part is using both the prescribed course work and one's own initiative. The course book comes in as an advantage as it usually gives students a way to track progression and previous language points. However, created materials can really be heightened in the Activate stage if the teacher creates diverse role play situations, debates or plays so the classroom is always reflective, using the language and enthusiastic.
