Unit 12 deals with teaching Productive Skills. RPoductive skills are Speaking and Writing. Speaking and writing activities focus on fluency or accuracy. Fluency activities are usually carried out on the Activate stage and allow the students to get creative with the language; accuracy activities are usually carried out on the Study stage and are aimed at producing the language correctly.
There are three types of speaking activities: controlled activities, which are accuracy based and controlled by the teacher; guided activities, which are still accuracy based but more creative; and creative communication, which are flunecy based.
In writing there are other factors also to be taken into account: handwriting, spelling, layout, punctuation, etc.
