This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, the topic of troubleshooting problems for first-time teachers/classes was covered. Problems such as building rapport among the class and how EFL works was something I felt was necessary for me, a I have never taught EFL. Moreover, the degree of rapport an existing group may have also plays a big part in how any teach will structure future lessons and build a rapport with students.
As this unit dealt with troubleshooting, I felt the recap on taking on large classes, and structuring classes with different-level students was helpful. As a prospective new teacher, my first class could potentially be a combination of different-level learners, as well as a large number of students; remembering to create groups, and matching stronger students with weaker students, would help ease the stress of teacher trying to inform every student properly.
