Unit 15 is based on the importance of examinations and testing in the classroom. It states that four major types of tests may be used in the classroom: placement tests, progress tests, diagnostic tests, and practice tests. Placement and diagnostic tests will be used at the beginning of the year in order to evaluate initial student ability. Progress tests may be used throughout the course in order to track the growth and information retained by each student. Practice tests will most often be used in order to practice for external exams, which are not given in the classroom, but are instead external measurements of a student?s English ability.
