This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Teaching English includes lessons about vocabulary, grammar structures and language functions. For vocabulary, students need to know about the meaning, use, word grammar, interaction, spelling and pronunciation. Similarly, when teaching grammatical structures, students need to know about the meaning, use, spoken, written, forms and patterns. Both vocabulary and grammatical structures normally use the ?straight arrow? ESA approach with similar techniques for presenting and practicing the material. For language functions, students will learn about how to invite, agree and suggest along with many other functions. This one normally uses either the ?boomerang? or ?patchwork? ESA structure. I learned that selecting vocabulary is important because students need vocabulary that is suitable for their level and they can see and use on regular bases, so they can remember it.
