This unit covered the potential problems teachers might encounter in the classroom and ways to help circumvent these problems. First, the unit tackles the problems that may occur during the first lesson, since this is when the teacher needs to establish rapport with the students. I found this information particularly agreeable because I had a difficult time as a new teacher knowing how to effectively warm up to the class during my first few lessons. The unit also covers variations in skill level and also in class size. I think that the strategies mentioned here are good because it helps with keeping the class flowing steadily even with the skill level disparity. The unit's coverage of native language being used in the classroom was also helpful because that is something that I had struggled with when I had just started teaching at my current school.
