From all kinds of tests mentioned in the unit, based on my experience placement test and diagnostic test are the ones that are never administered to students in public schools. This is important because in public schools in Indonesia typically there are 30 to 40 students in one class, each student is different from another student in term of language level. This lack results in the difficulty to manage classes and conduct lessons because students are in ranging levels. Even though the curriculum made by the government specifies the level for students, in reality there will be some students who feel uncomfortable with the lessons because of the margin of students' level and language level taught might be really high. Therefore, placement test and diagnostic test can be said to be vital in language teaching.
