This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I have learned some of these concepts before when learning Spanish and still the material is complicated and hard to understand. Phonetic script and the diagram of the human head with all the different physical aspects that produce sound and where the tongue is place is a difficult issue to understand. Regardless pronunciation is important to learn, even though it does vary from person to person. The tone and level of someone's voice can give a greater clue to the meaning of what they are saying or their intentions of saying it. The same can be said for which word/syllable is stressed. Changing the stress from word to word throughout the sentence changes the meaning entirely. Certain aspects of this can be taught but variations must be remembered, but constant exposure to the language will be the greatest tool in helping students learn the material from this lesson. A good teaching tool would be having students listen to an interview, so they can practice hearing the way questions are asked and statements are made.
