This unit introduced key considerations in relation to the teaching of new language, focusing on teaching vocabulary, grammar and language functions. For each of these three, key considerations in determining the level and difficulty of activities were introduced, and the ESA lesson planning formats (straight arrow, boomerang, patchwork) were applied in examples. This unit also covered what students typically need to know about new pieces of languages, and which ESA lesson formats are typically most suitable for teaching vocabulary, grammar and functions.This chapter discusses the various future forms. They are as follows, future simple, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous, and be going + infinitive. Additionally, it briefly reviews the present simple and the present continuous tenses. The tenses, in my opinion, are both difficult to understand and explain. So not only was this chapter particularly important in guiding me how to teach these topics, it aided in ensuring I better understand them as well. I am of the mind that you cannot teach something you do not understand well.
