In this unit we learned about the various special groups that we might be teaching english too and the ways in which lessons can accomadate these students.
The three major groups this unit covered were beginner students, children and people learning business english.
Beginner students will need teachers to start slowly and have realistic goals for what the students can accomplish. Teachers should give clear simple instructions, encourage students to speak as much as possible and be sensitive to students.
Child students are another special group that the teacher may need to adjust their approach in order to effectively connect to. Teachers should speak slowly use lots of repitition and most importantly be ready to make learning as fun as experience as possible to help keep children engaged.
In business english one of the most important things is trying to elicit from the students what their english needs are so that you can effectively teach them the language necessary to help with their job.
