This unit went over teaching materials, such as coursebooks and additional materials, authentic and created. When I first began my teaching role I felt like the textbook provided was the bible for everything. About two months into it I realized that students aren't exactly invigorated about what the textbook has them learning so I began to implement more outside materials. I aim to have consistency with what the textbook is covering and the materials though at times I have a hard time \"going off script\". With my younger students, they really enjoy the authentic and created materials since I know how to cater to them though with my older students I am still figuring out what is level appropriate and not too juvenile. For me the biggest take away is to use my materials wisely, the textbook adds a good structure to and the outside materials add a good relevance to what they are learning but to always consider their levels and interest as I work to remain adaptable.
