This unit focused on reading and listening and the details and motivations behind the two receptive skills. While it is often believed that people read with their eyes and listen with their ears, the mind actually plays a big part in reading and listening as well. Depending on the purpose of the reading/hearing, the way people read or write changes as well. For example, someone who just wants to get a brief idea of an article might just skim through the text. However, another person who wants to get detailed information is more likely to carefully read the entire article.This unit shows the reasons why teachers should plan their lesson, how to produce a practical and easy lesson plan, what materials need to be included in the plan, as well as what issues should be addressed to make the plan more effective. In the plan procedure, the ESA method is explicitly analyzed and explained with examples. In the addition, the importance of the plan?s flexibility and the timing is also covered to prevent a rigid, inflexible structure of the lesson. I have learnt how to create an interesting and effective lesson by using some tips from this unit.
