Considerations in teaching vocabulary involve assessing where students are in their language learning and their lives. Vocabulary that may be appropriate to one set of students may be less valuable for others. Teachers can use a lot of creativity in lesson design to make lessons lively and appropriate to their class. Students may know a lot more vocabulary than they typically use, and it is helpful for teachers to elicit use of some of this \"hidden\" vocabulary so students become accustomed to using those words.This teaches us how to approach constructing a lesson, breaking it down into three main categories: Engage the students, Study some specific language points, then activate the recently-learned knowledge. This lesson also gives valuable suggestions and ideas for activities and structures we can use in each of these phases to engage the students. There's an unending number of activities we could implement, so this lesson gives some guidance for which kinds of activities are most useful in each phase of the lesson.
