Past tenses can be categorised as Past simple (subject + past participle, eg Tom studied English.), Past continuous (subject + auxiliary verb 'was/were' + verb+ing, eg Tom was studying English.), Past perfect(subject + auxilary verb 'had' + past participle, eg Tom had studied English before he went to bed.), and Past present continuous (subject auxilary verb 'had' + auxilary verb 'been' + verb+ing, eg Tom had been studying English when his girlfriend called.).This unit was about the first tenses of Present as present simple, present continuous, present perfect, present perfect continuous so from now on I have the knowledge of how to systematize the teaching of tenses to non-native speakers or let me say, occasionally to native speakers as well since they have the confidence of usage but probably not the background of grammar rules.I definitely plan to use this unit during the lessons planning of mine in the future.
