In unit 7 I have learned how to teach vocabulary, grammatical structures and language functions in a new language. There are several factores to take in consideration when the teacher chooses which words or grammatical structures to teach the students like appropriacy to the students and the task, frequency and coverage and teachability.
The students need to learn what the words mean, how it is used, the formations and patterns of the language, how to pronounce and spell the words as well as the spoken and written form.
By using ESA lessond, unit 7 present different activities which the teacher can use in the engage phase (pictures, contrasts, mime etc), study phase (word searches, crosswords, study texts etc) and the active phase (role-play, debate, discussion etc).
When teaching a new language the teacher can use both ESA straight arrow, patchwork or ESA boomerang type lesson to teach the new language.
