First, in the second lesson, the teacher starts off by familiarizing himself with the student names. He also introduces himself. This was really lacking from the first lesson. Humans need identities to relate to each other.It is important to recognize them. It is interesting to note how the teacher didn't need to use the grammatical term, \"modal auxiliary verbs\" at all for the students to understand that grammatical structure of, an animal can or cannot do X in the second lesson. It was good that he first had the students elicit words they knew. This flowed seamlessly into what the animals can and cannot do. Although, it appears he was trying to teach them about imaginary animals and failed in that attempt, ultimately he was able to successfully have the students engage with him the entire class period and learn the meat of the lesson. He can teach regarding imaginary animals in the next lesson.
